MANILA, Philippines — Sisi Rondina expressed satisfaction with the Choco Mucho Flying Titans’ effort despite falling to their sister team, the defending champion Creamline Cool Smashers, in their 17th showdown during the 2024-25 PVL All-Filipino Conference.
The Flying Titans showcased resilience in the third set, pushing the match to an extended game. However, they ultimately succumbed to the Cool Smashers, 22-25, 20-25, 32-30, 20-25, on Tuesday night in front of a lively crowd of 9,551 fans at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
Rondina acknowledged her team’s efforts despite the challenges they faced against Creamline. “Of course, I still commend our team because we didn’t give up easily. We fought hard. As coach said earlier, he’s thankful because he sees a lot of improvements, even if it’s gradual. Personally, I’m happy because I’m slowly getting back to form,” she said.
The former All-Filipino MVP, who delivered an impressive performance with 24 points and 11 excellent receptions, admitted that understanding Creamline’s system and depth remained a significant challenge for Choco Mucho. “We know how Creamline plays and how they manage their game. Of course, we’re aware of our weaknesses and shortcomings, and we fully admit that we had a lot of lapses,” she added.
Rondina also praised her opponent and former teammate, Jema Galanza, who led Creamline with 24 points, 17 excellent receptions, and nine digs. “That’s Jema for you, of course, that’s Jema. I know how she plays, and I’ve also been teammates with her in Alas. Her composure is incredible, and that’s something I truly admire about her because she knows how to lead a team so well. She’s so calm,” Rondina remarked.
The Flying Titans, now on a two-game losing streak with a 2-3 record, will face Farm Fresh in their final match of the year at the Philsports Arena. Rondina remains hopeful for her team’s improvement before 2024 ends. “We’ll keep working on it; the ball is round. There are so many teams improving and getting stronger these days. As for us, we’ll focus on fixing what needs to be addressed and improving our personal skills where we need to put in the work,” she concluded.
