Sen. Bong Go Calls for Transparency in PhilHealth Fund Management

Senator Bong Go called for transparency and accountability in the management of PhilHealth funds, expressing concern over the unused resources that could be allocated to health care needs. During the Senate’s plenary session on November 7, which discussed the 2025 budget of the Department of Finance (DoF), Go raised questions regarding the P60 billion transferred from PhilHealth to the National Treasury.

The Supreme Court had previously issued a Temporary Restraining Order (TRO), halting the fund transfer. Go asked, “What is the DoF’s plan here? Has it been spent? Can it be returned?” He emphasized that the funds should be used directly for health care services.

Frustrated with PhilHealth’s lack of action in addressing gaps in the health care system, Go urged Finance Secretary Ralph to ensure that the funds are spent wisely. He stressed that the PhilHealth resources should be immediately mobilized to assist Filipino patients in need of urgent medical attention.
