MANILA, Philippines — With Barangay Ginebra already securing a spot in the PBA Commissioner’s Cup quarterfinals, coach Tim Cone chose to limit the minutes of several key players as the team prepares for the playoffs.
Stephen Holt took full advantage of his time on the court, leading Ginebra to a 91-87 victory over Meralco on Wednesday night.
“It’s always the next man up mentality with us, whoever’s on the floor, they’re just five guys connecting for our offense,” said Holt.
“Now, we just have to continue this momentum in the playoffs,” he added.
Holt finished the game with 13 points and three rebounds in 21 minutes, while RJ Abarrientos led the team in scoring with 17 points.
Ending the elimination round in fourth place with an 8-4 record, Ginebra now turns its attention to the quarterfinals, where they will face Meralco in a best-of-three series.
“I’m just trying to be efficient with my shots and trying to create. For me and all of us, it’s all about preparing for the playoffs and how we go about our business,” Holt said.
“I’m super excited to regroup with the guys that we have and try to win that championship,” he added.
