DOH Raises Nationwide Code Blue Alert Following Typhoon “Tino”

MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Health (DOH) has raised a Code Blue Alert nationwide after President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. declared a State of National Emergency in response to the devastation caused by Typhoon “Tino.”

Under the Code Blue Alert, all DOH regional offices and facilities are on heightened readiness to respond to urgent health needs.

The department has deployed additional health personnel to evacuation centers and temporary health facilities in affected areas. Medicines, medical supplies, and mobile response teams have also been prepositioned to support local government units (LGUs).

The DOH’s Operations Center and Health Emergency Management Staff have been activated to ensure rapid coordination and response. Additionally, three Philippine Emergency Medical Assistance Teams (PEMATs)—recognized by the World Health Organization—are on standby to assist in establishing temporary hospital tents and providing emergency care in hard-hit areas.

The DOH urged residents in typhoon-affected areas to stay in evacuation centers if advised, monitor official announcements, and report medical emergencies immediately.
