Delia Razon, an award-winning actress whose career in Philippine cinema spanned seven decades, passed away on Saturday, March 15, at the age of 94.

Her granddaughter, Kapuso actress Carla Abellana, confirmed Razon’s passing through an Instagram post on Sunday. However, the cause of death has not been disclosed as of press time.

Abellana’s post was met with an outpouring of condolences from fans and fellow celebrities, including Chynna Ortaleza, Jackie Lou Blanco, and Pia Magalona, who left heartfelt messages in the comments.

A Storied Career in Philippine Cinema

Born Lucy May Grytz, Razon was of Filipina-Spanish and German descent. She began her acting career in 1949 with the film Krus na Bituin, and her screen name was given by the late producer and businesswoman Doña Narcisa de Leon.

Throughout her illustrious career, she starred in numerous classic films, including Rodrigo de Villa, Lapu-Lapu, Luksang Tagumpay, Prinsipe Teñoso, Gaano Kadalas ang Minsan?, Haplos, and Kailan Sasabihing Mahal Kita?

In recognition of her contributions to the film industry, Razon was nominated for Best Actress at the 1957 FAMAS Awards for Luksang Tagumpay and later received the Lifetime Achievement Award in 2009.
